Beto O’Rourke took a lot of heat from his “hell yes we’re going to take your AR-15s..” quote from the September Democrat presidential primary debates. At the most recent round last night, CNN’s Anderson Cooper pressed him for details and logistics on his gun confiscation plan where he appeared to backtrack a bit.
“Mass Shooters Don’t follow the law.” This was the point made by CNN morning anchor Alisyn Camerota in this morning’s interview with Texas State Rep. Beto O’rourke (D). O’rourke was asked about how he would enact his gun confiscation plan he reiterated with a slightly different tone last night in the most recent Democrat Debate.
“I fully expect my fellow Americans to follow the law” voiced Beto. Camerota quickly responds “You expect mass shooters to follow the law?” Beto pauses and just repeats “Our fellow Americans will follow the law, yes.”
He avoids answering the question in a more detailed sense that she was likely looking for though. Camerota then reiterated her earlier question with a formidable statement this time: “mass shooters don’t follow the law. By definition the mass shooters in Parkland, in El Paso I could go on for ten minutes. They don’t follow the law by definition.” Beto then infers that action needs to be taken now, because even if it doesn’t stop every single shooting, he believes it’s the right thing to do. They continue going around in a circle a few more times before the heated exchange ends.
“Even CNN is humiliating Beto over his insane gun confiscation plan. “You expect mass shooters to follow the law?”
