The character assassination of probably the most conservative and bold Republican lawmaker in the great state of Florida has commenced. Mike Hill, a Republican state house representative has been standing tall in the face of adversity against abortion and for other conservative agendas. He has even gone as far as to say abortion law in Florida should be modeled after the recent passage of an almost outright ban in the state of Alabama.
Clearly, the left is not thrilled with Republicans and their values in general, but Hill has drawn ire from some within his own party as well, for attempting to rock the boat in what has appeared to be a “go along to get along” environment lately.
In addition to an attack from the Republican State House Speaker Jose Oliva, pro LGBT ‘narrative’ panderer Joe Gruters has hopped aboard the criticism train. Since some politicians from both sides of the aisle have been rabid with anger recently with Rep Hill, it’s no surprise that they found something they could try to use against him by taking an awkward situation out of context. Gruters was quick to play the disavowal game on Twitter without giving Mike Hill any benefit of the doubt, despite all the strength shown by Hill in his position with the Republican Party of Florida.
Gruters, though, has a conservative credibility problem and makes one question how much weight his opinion truly carries here. John Stemberger, the President of conservative group Florida Family Policy Council has actually called for his resignation in the recent past for his stance on policies that would allow the forced imposition of transgendered employees being hired by Christian daycare centers, among other things.

On May 23rd, Mike Hill was at a town hall meeting with constituents. Someone made a joke in poor tastes referencing a Bible verse. Apparently, Hill did not see this coming and awkwardly laughed it off while disagreeing with the unsavory implication made by the jokester.
This was spun out of control to imply that somehow Mike Hill didn’t think LGBT people had a right to live, which couldn’t be farther from the truth.
It appears these attacks are not going to slow down, but it’s not likely Mike Hill will back down either. Clearly, politicians have to choose their words and interactions carefully, but when it comes to policy, conservatives across the country should look to Rep Hill for inspiration and courage to stand up for his values.
