Florida Gun Rights sent the follow press release to Politics Elections:
Tallahassee, FL –State Representative Mike Hill recently filed legislation to repeal the four gun control components of Senate Bill 7026 passed and signed into law by then-Governor Rick Scott during the 2018 legislative session.
“Rick Scott and Florida lawmakers punished law-abiding gun owners for the actions of a criminal with the passage of SB 7026,” said DJ Parten, Director of Legislation for Florida Gun Rights. “I applaud Rep. Hill for filing this important legislation to restore the rights of law-abiding Floridians and look forward to working with him to advance it.”
House Bill 175 focuses on repealing the ban on certain firearm accessories, repealing the ban on law-abiding adults under 21 years old from purchasing long guns, repealing the waiting periods to purchase long guns, and repealing the risk protection orders also known as gun confiscation orders.
“As lawmakers, we swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. This gun control law was in clear violation of that oath. That’s why I’m committed to right the wrong done last session,” said Rep. Mike Hill of his decision to introduce the legislation.
