Republican House Speaker Attacks Florida’s Pro-Life Champion

Last week, it was reported that conservative Mike Hill was leading the charge against abortion in Florida. He has introduced a bill that failed to get out of the House Subcommittee, a committee that is majority Republican. This week, Democrats are calling for his resignation and Republicans including House Speaker Jose Oliva are calling on him to apologize for a recent discussion that was had with a group regarding homosexuality, the Bible, and potential legislation.

Olivia, who describes himself as a conservative on Twitter, was notably silent with any support for the bill and has not even mentioned abortion on the platform once since the bill was introduced. Hill, meanwhile, has Tweeted against abortion many times including when Virginia Governor Ralph Northam advocated for infanticide.

Any support of President Trump is also notably absent from Speaker Oliva’s Twitter, save for one Tweet thanking him for supporting the Florida drug import plan. Hill, meanwhile, has been a vocal supporter of President Trump and his fight against illegal immigration.

Below you can see a collection of Tweets giving evidence of Hill’s stalwart conservative and Trump supporting stances. What lobbyists and special interest groups are pushing weak Republicans to shy away from his bold moves?

Twitter handle @FLHouseVictory called for him to resign here and he hit back quickly. The original Tweet reads:

“It’s time that @MikeHillfl does what’s right and resigns immediately. #ResignMikeHill”

Mike Hill responded with:

“Ain’t gonna happen! Your attacks are because I don’t back down from strong conservative values including protecting the preborn!”
