Kamala Harris Says ‘Well Said’ to Audience Member Who Calls Trump’s Actions ‘Mentally Retarded’

2020 presidential candidate Kamala Harris (D) held a town hall yesterday in New Hampshire, and one of the audience members might just have gotten her into a little hot water so to speak. From the best we can make out, the man asking Harris a question says, “what are you going to do in the next 1 year to diminish the mentally retarded actions of this guy” referring to President Trump’s actions as the leader of the United States. Kamala, who appears to have heard him very clearly, simply answered: “well said”.

When confronted today by CBS News reporter Caitlin Huey-Burns, she tried to back-peddle and act as though either she didn’t hear the words, or didn’t process them properly, but she didn’t really seem too sure. Getting out in front of the potential scandal, Kamala tweeted the video of the encounter with Huey-Burns, and had this to say:

“When my staff played the video from my town hall yesterday, it was upsetting. I didn’t hear the words the man used in that moment, but if I had I would’ve stopped and corrected him. I’m sorry. That word and others like it aren’t acceptable. Ever.”

The reporter seems to be making a very big deal about this encounter with U.S. Senator and presidential candidate Kamala Harris. After the interview, but before she had the video available, she took to her Twitter account to post about the experience, making multiple tweets on the situation and subsequently retweeting the same video three times. It doesn’t seem as though Kamala’s answer is being received so well.

After those tweets, the CBS reporter then retweeted CBS News, Stephanie Ramirez, and Face the Nation’s tweets with the same video. Harris is currently polling in 4th for the Democratic 2020 presidential primary race after Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders.
