Leftists in America and Around the World Want to Ban More Guns Than People Probably Think

Last night at the ABC News hosted Democratic debates that showcased a narrowed down field of candidates as compared to the previous set of debates, Beto O’Rourke found himself making headlines yet again, for controversial statements about guns echoing similar statements he’s already been on record making. In short, Beto wants to take your AR-15s and AK-47s, period, no exceptions.

This is certainly one way to move the ‘Overton window’ from what the left usually calls for in just stricter background checks, closing ‘gun show loopholes’ and banning private gun sales, among other talking points. The problem here is that politicians are letting criminals dictate gun policy by the crimes they commit. That is in my opinion only, tantamount to negotiating with terrorists. For example, the New Zealand Christchurch shooter even put in his manifesto that more gun control division was exactly what one his objectives was in his horrific attack.

After the debate last night when O’Rourke stated, “hell yes we’re going to take your AR-15s“, Texas state Rep. Briscoe Cain (R) tweeted out a message showing his defiance in Beto’s calls, and apparently O’Rourke took it as a personal threat. This actually has lead up to Cain being reported to the FBI. See the tweet thread below:

The Hill reported on the FBI report:

A spokesperson for O’Rourke told The Guardian that his campaign reported the post to the FBI. His campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill.

In response to presidential candidate O’Rourke’s accusation of Cain’s tweet being an alleged ‘death threat’, Rep. Cain responded: “You’re a child Robert Francis” using his real name. It is yet to be seen how the FBI will respond to the reports. See the tweet from @BriscoeCain below:

This morning, The Hill reports that Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is backing even stricter gun control measures in New Zealand that are in a push to be implemented.

Lawmakers in New Zealand have introduced legislation to create a registry of all firearms in the country after a deadly shooting in Christchurch earlier this year targeting Muslim worshipers left more than 50 people dead.

The Associated Press reported that the bill introduced Friday in Parliament would also double the frequency with which gun owners must renew their licenses and create restrictions for doctors allowing them to indicate whether a patient should not own a firearm.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told reporters at a press conference that firearm ownership was a “privilege, not a right,” and added that she was focused on preventing a similar attack to the March shooting that killed 51 people.

“We absolutely recognize there is a legitimate need in our communities to be able to access guns, particularly our rural community,” she said. “But what these changes do is recognize that actually there’s a real responsibility that comes with gun ownership.”

Senator Ted Cruz (R), who recently participated in a gun control debate with Alyssa Milano, chimed in on twitter. He mentioned how careful you have to be in statements made about what the left wants to do with your guns. Even statements with truth in them can be labeled false if you don’t provide the details that ‘independent fact-checkers’ want you to. See the tweet from @tedcruz below:
