Marco Rubio Backs Red Flag Gun Control Despite Pro Gun Campaign Promises

In this article, you can see 5 recent tweets where Republican U.S. Senator and former presidential candidate Marco Rubio is calling for and pushing legislation for “Red Flag” gun control laws. This is in tandem with the left, and many on the right as well.

Marco Rubio ran on being pro-gun and touted his good standing with the NRA during his presidential campaign. But it appears as though, depending on where you stand on “Red Flag” laws and other things, he is and has been buckling.

This is unfortunate for gun owners, supporters of the constitution, supporters of Rubio’s in Florida, and the Republican party as a whole. It shows that Conservative and Republican values are not really stalwart stances but merely opinions that can be changed by public opinion and current events. Current events right now being the extremely tragic shootings recently in the news that occurred in El Paso, TX and Dayton OH.

Rubio attended a CNN gun control town hall in 2018 where he was blasted by members in the audience about his previous support for the second amendment in the wake of Parkland shootings. You can see in the video below where Rubio bends and breaks at the whim of angry CNN audience members.

Based on this it’s not a surprise that he is moving further and further left. All murders and shootings are tragic and should be something at the forefront of the political debates, but the policy-making by elected leaders should not be based on an angry mob dictating what they think you should do.

Based on Rubio’s calls for “Red Flag” laws and supporting bump stock bans and other gun law tightenings in the past, after running as the pro-gun candidate in 2016, one can only question what his next anti-gun legislative proposal will be.
