Politifact Confirmed: Florida’s Red Flag Laws are Used to Take Guns About Five Times a Day

The state attorney for Palm Beach County Florida recently appeared on MSNBC and was quoted as saying:

“Law enforcement officials are using Florida’s so-called “red flag” law to remove guns from people five times a day.”

Dave Aronberg (D) can be seen in a video clip on Twitter posted by himself. The fellow left-leaning MSBNC hosts seem to be glad to hear how, in their view, these laws are working and should be used on a national level. No mention of the potential for violence that ‘Red Flag’ laws pose based on a Maryland man who was killed by an officer who came to confiscate his guns though. The idea to prevent shootings is a great one. The question of how effective these laws are and how they could potentially be violating peaceful law-abiding citizen’s second amendment rights still needs to posed though.

The number of 5 a day might seem a bit far fetched, especially since we are told that ‘Red Flad’ laws would not be used this frequently. Despite that, Politifact actually rates this claim by Aronberg as 100% true. The video below details the background of the claims and you can read here for more information. Recently Republicans like Florida U.S. Senator Marco Rubio and Texas U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw have signaled support for these laws, although Jim Jordan and other Republican House members have vehemently opposed the idea.

Earlier today, ‘Florida Campaign for Liberty’ posted the Politifact findings on their Facebook page, likely to show their base just how much more this law is being used than people realize.
