Cynthia Dunbar, candidate for the Republican Nomination to Congress in Virginia’s 6th Congressional District has been in endorsed by former Texas Congressman, Presidential candidate, and liberty movement icon, Dr. Ron Paul. Dunbar faces Delegate Ben Cline in the competition for their party’s nomination to replace outgoing 13 term Congressman Bob Goodlatte, who Cline previously served under as Chief of Staff.
After first winning election with 60% of the vote in 1992, Goodlatte never received less than 62% of votes in Virginia’s 6th District, one of the most conservative in the Commonwealth. Home to Liberty University, the Christian school presided over by Jerry Falwell Jr, the 6th District encompasses the cities of Lynchburg and Roanoke, as well as large portions of the Shenandoah Valley, making the battle for the Republican nomination all the more important as it could very well serve as the District’s de-facto 2018 Election.
Dunbar, a law professor at Liberty University and Republican National Committeewoman for the Commonwealth of Virginia, served as co-chair of Ted Cruz’s Virginia Presidential Primary campaign in 2016, and while residing in Texas, was elected to the 15 member State Board of Education. In Dr. Paul’s official endorsement, he alludes to Dunbar’s career and public service as he says Dunbar has ‘proved to be a stalwart defender of the freedoms guaranteed to us as Americans,’ and confidently predicts ‘her voice will be heard loudly and clearly across the nation in defense of liberty.’
On her campaign website, Dunbar calls for ‘less government and greater liberty,’ echoing the sentiments of her newest supporter, Dr. Ron Paul, and the millions of Americans who have mobilized in recent years to advance the liberty movement on a national level. A staunch supporter of the Constitution, Dunbar vows to protect the rights of all Americans, including the unborn, from an overreaching federal government. In addition to reaffirming her basic principles, Dunbar makes it clear that she will not run away from her ideological connections to President Trump, as she promises to help ‘drain the swamp’ in Washington.
