It’s official. Sheriff Joe Arpaio is not retired yet! As of last night, Arpaio is running for his 7th term as Maricopa County Sheriff in Arizona. The controversial political figure who received a pardon from President Trump for a contempt of court charge relating to illegal immigrant arrests is back in action.
NBC News reported:
Arpaio was defeated for re-election to what would have been a record seventh term as sheriff in November 2016, shortly after he was charged with contempt of court for having ignored a federal judge’s order to stop arresting immigrants solely on suspicion that they were in the country illegally.
Arpaio, who was one of the first elected officials to endorse Trump’s presidential campaign, was convicted in July 2017. The next month, Trump pardoned him, saying he admired Arpaio’s work “protecting the public from the scourges of crime and illegal immigration.”

Sheriff Joe recently posted a video by a man named Dominick Izzo where he talks about how Arpaio plans to visit Chicago on September 29th to address the problems that plague the black community. Izzo thinks many religious and political icons use the black community as a way to further their cause by pandering to them but never actually do anything to help. This is expressed in his video. He believes Sheriff Joe has real ideas that will actually help the inner cities instead of grandstanding and pandering.

According to another tweet, it looks like Arpaio will be holding an event to address these issues. This event is likely to draw attention to Joe and his campaign in addition to the discussion and ideas that are presented.
