Trump’s Personal Assistant Resigns After Alleged Media Leaking

Sadly for President Trump, but necessary if true, his personal assistant Madeleine Westerhout has stepped down due to alleged leaking of personal Trump family information to the media. This comes as a smack in the face to the Trump family from someone they thought was a trusted friend.

A video done by National Post in September of 2018 explains some of the mysteries behind Weserhout, how she started as a greeter girl for Trump Tower as he was preparing for his run for President, after being a 2012 Mitt Romney intern, and more.

Over the past six months, Westerhout has been trying to get more responsibilities and duties including traveling abroad, said one adviser close to the White House, who suggested she tried to act like a chief of staff almost. Breaking 911 reported:

According to the New York Times, Madeleine Westerhout is accused of leaking private information about Trump’s family and Oval Office operations.

The leaking reportedly occurred at an off-the-record dinner with journalists in Bedminster, New Jersey–while the President was on a working-vacation

A Politico report on the situation says that many others had been wary of Westerhout for a while now, so this appears to be those suspicions coming to fruition. The White House has had a very high turnover in staff since President Trump took office. This could be for a variety of reasons, from President Trump’s unorthodox political style to the likelihood that it is hard to find trustworthy Republican staffers in the left-leaning D.C. area.

There is also a lot of demand from the media for information about President Trump. This prompts journalist to often be prodding and pushing for any type of information that could lead to an ‘exclusive anti-Trump scoop’ that may boost their fame.

Politico reported:

The close White House adviser called this “the final straw” for someone who did not have many allies left in the building.

Many Trump 2016 campaign officials had always been wary of Westerhout, who joined the Trump transition from the Republican National Committee and was not an original Trump loyalist.

Most of Westerhout’s tweets on her official Twitter page were just retweets from the White House and Donald Trump’s official Twitter page, but she did tweet a few other things including some about Social Media Director Dan Scavino as well as a few posts from when former President George H. W. Bush died.

For the sake of the President, his new Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, and his closest family, Melania, and Barron, hopefully, this is the last of the people close to him who might seek to betray him. President Trump would want to likely be able to pivot to simply focus on getting policies enacted and keeping his family privacy intact simultaneously. After the Scaramucci saga, Westerhout, and former SecDef Mattis’ new book painting the President in a poor light, I’m sure they are hoping for a breather.
