On Thursday, May 2nd, in a video that is now being widely reported on, Pennslyvania state representative Brian Sims, took to the streets to harass an elderly woman who is only seen in the video praying in front of a Planned Parenthood. Sims is a Member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from the 182nd district, a district which encompasses what’s known as the ‘Gayborhood’ section of Philadelphia.
He has previously faced an ethics investigation in addition to the current ongoing scandal in the recent past, possibly laying the groundwork that could indicate he isn’t stable enough to be an elected official.
The video shows him berating her with verbal abuse after accosting her and using slurs such as ‘old white lady’ and ‘racist’ multiple times. He questions her religion and tells her that it is not her business to be there.
She asks him multiple times to leave her alone and even leaves the area in an attempt to get away from him, but he follows, while still filming and berating her. There is even speculation that the elected official may have broken state law in this incident.

While the video was filmed through Periscope, Sims has shared a link to it to his official Facebook page with some added comments. This should be problematic according to Facebook’s new rules, but he has thus far been able to avoid any punishment.
The video is being reposted and shared by various different Social Media outlets by differing people, many condemning the actions within the clip. Facebook and Twitter have left Sims’ Page up with no penalty, despite the clip pushing a narrative that it’s ok to harass people who are peacefully exercising their rights.
This highlights a potential bias, as many right-wing commentators were recently banned completely from Facebook, and adds to the speculation that Democrats often don’t receive the same treatment as others upon posting original content that could be deemed ‘hateful’.

This isn’t the first time Brian Sims has harassed people for praying in front of a Planned Parenthood. Back on April 18th, he also was there, and this time his victims were a man, a woman, and what appears to be three teenage girls who are likely under 18. He goes as far as to offer $100 to donate to the Planned Parenthood if “anybody can identify them”, a practice that is commonly known as ‘doxing’ which could possibly lead to violent backlash or fear and intimidation tactics against them. He again goes racial by calling them white in a negative connotation as well as “pseudo-Christians”.

It’s funny that a Democrat, supposedly the party of tolerance, and a self-described ‘male-feminist’ would treat people who he disagrees with, especially women, so detrimentally.
It should also be worth noting that Sims has been in the news recently for taking the supposed HIV prevention pill Truvada, which comes with potential side effects that include mental/mood changes. One has to wonder if this medicine has anything to do with his erratic behaviors.
Combine all that with some of the aforementioned past ethics complaints and it seems like this state lawmaker is ‘perfect’ for the future wave of the radical Democrat party, unfortunately.
