‘De Blasio Quits Presidential Race; Trump Gloats’ reads the New York Times headline today. Did President Trump indeed ‘gloat’ about liberal New York City Mayor stepping down from his failed 2020 presidential bid? Yes indeed, and many of the comments are wild.

Earlier this morning President Trump fired off a classic Trump tweet saying:
“Oh no, really big political news, perhaps the biggest story in years! Part time Mayor of New York City, @BilldeBlasio, who was polling at a solid ZERO but had tremendous room for growth, has shocking dropped out of the Presidential race. NYC is devastated, he’s coming home!”

The @realDonaldTrump Twitter feed was littered with people on both sides of the aisle, some trolling President Trump (as on almost all his tweets) and some who thought the tweet was hilarious.

The same post put on the official Donald J. Trump Facebook page got 36,000 ‘laugh reactions’ as of this writing, more than any other reaction.
De Blasio now goes back to being the full-time Mayor of New York City, where hopefully he can focus on some the issues plaguing the Big Apple, such as crime, traffic, and homelessness, as pointed out in a recent Tucker Carlson interview. In the clip, de Blasio bobbed, weaved, and dodged most allegations made by Tucker, although he was fair to him overall and let him get his message out about running for president. This was of course before he dropped out.
