American Soccer Star Hates America

Megan Rapinoe, US soccer star, has taken to her pedestal for at least the second time, to disrespect the United States of America, and she wants us to know it is a direct insult to President Trump as well.

According to the “New York Post”:

Soccer star Megan Rapinoe has vowed to continue her national anthem protests while representing the US in next month’s Women’s World Cup — calling it a “good ‘F you’” to the Trump administration.

“I’ll probably never put my hand over my heart,” the 33-year-old national co-captain told Yahoo sports.“I’ll probably never sing the national anthem again.”

This isn’t her first rodeo at trying stunts like this either. At a soccer match on September 18th, 2016, she chose to kneel for the national anthem as well, a copycat move based on action taken by former NFL football star Colin Kaepernick.

This is a similar story to the one where Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn made it clear that if she won a medal in an upcoming performance she would not want any recognition from and did not want to be known as representing President Trump. Unfortunately for her, she injured herself before the aforementioned competition and was never actually able to participate. Fox News received some backlash for making implications that there was some sort of “Trump curse” at play, appearing to be in a joking context.

“Megan Rapinoe needs to be booted for her lack of patriotism. Why play for a country you hate, smh. #USWNT”

Also from the “New York Post”:

“Because I’m as talented as I am, I get to be here, you don’t get to tell me if I can be here or not.

“Which, God help us if we all looked like him. Scary. Really scary. Ahh, disturbing.”

The sportswoman says she had an “awakening” when “things got kind of nasty” in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election.

She became the first white athlete and first female athlete to follow Colin Kaepernick’s lead in taking a knee, just days after he started the protest on Sept. 1, 2016.

“Colin Kaepernick very much inspired me, and inspired an entire nation, and still does, to actually think about these things,” she told Yahoo.

“The way he spoke about them so clearly, so matter-of-fact, wasn’t trying to convince anyone. Just, ‘This is what is happening, this is what I’m willing to do about it.’”
