Bernie Sanders Blames Trump for Shootings, Pushes Support of Giffords’ PAC

The roar of the masses on Twitter is growing louder by the minute after a pair of tragic mass shootings in the same 24-hour period has left the country reeling. First, there was one in El Paso, TX, and then early this morning another devastating shooting incident in Dayton, OH.

Despite the fact that there are many shootings around the country on a daily basis and often innocent victims caught in the crosshairs, many in the media and lots of politicians only seem to focus on ones that fit their narrative.

Bernie Sanders took to Twitter to voice his displeasure with the actions of those killers yesterday but directed his anger at President Trump and Republicans. He started yesterday after the first shooting with four tweets where he asked to “come together to reject this dangerous and growing culture of bigotry espoused by Trump and his allies. Instead of wasting money putting children in cages.”

He followed that up after the Dayton shooting by imploring the President to “stop your racist, hateful and anti-immigrant rhetoric. Your language creates a climate which emboldens violent extremists.” It seems he has forgotten how his rhetoric once emboldened James T. Hodgkinson to take aim at Republican Congressional leaders like Steve Scalise.

Prior to that tweet, he encouraged his supporters to donate to Gabby Gifford’s PAC. According to OpenSecrets.org, that PAC donated to 95% Democrat candidates in 2018, although Sanders was not on the list of recipients.
