While Tragedy Hits El Paso, ‘The Squad’ Focuses on Gun Control

Tragedy struck today in El Paso, Texas as a gunman opened fire in a Wal-Mart killing at least 20 people as of the latest count. President Trump tweeted out his condolences:

Terrible shootings in ElPaso, Texas. Reports are very bad, many killed. Working with State and Local authorities, and Law Enforcement. Spoke to Governor to pledge total support of Federal Government. God be with you all!

News organizations like the Independent have already discovered some ties of the shooter to domestic extremism and uncovered postings where he said: “the plan to launch the attack pre-dated the election of Donald Trump.” According to that article, the shooter also said, “The inconvenient truth is that our leaders, both Democrat AND Republican, have been failing us for decades.”

The squad was quick to take to Twitter with a unified message about gun control. Rashida Tlaib was the first to Tweet calling the USA a “gun country rather than a safe one.”

Next up was Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with a pair of tweets with the message, “We can no longer bear to see gun violence & mass shootings continue as a norm in America.”
