Facebook Activists Shut Down Drag Queen Story Hours, Some Now Held at “Church”

By now you are probably familiar with the controversial “Drag Queen Story Hour“. A movement originating from San Francisco, California and popping up in libraries across the country. Well, most people can probably come to the conclusion that this is and has been a very controversial thing, to say the least. The drag queen involvement in a children’s story hour is certainly not something many, especially Christians would consider fundamentally wholesome or traditional.

Bringing the drag queen into a children’s activity opens up the debate about transgender men and women for people of an age deemed, not appropriate by many to be learning about such a topic. This has been a hot button topic lately in our nation for multiple reasons such as how this affects public restrooms, workplace rights, and ability to join the military. Recently a transgender ban by President Trump was upheld by the Supreme Court tipped by freshman Justice Kavanaugh, successfully blocking new joins of transgendered people into the military.

Many of these “Drag Queen Story Hour” events that have been taking place have seen much push-back from some parents. One such library in the city of Delaware, Ohio, has been holding their version of this event, up until a few days ago, people protesting the event were able to put a nix on it, much to the dismay of many, as can be seen in the Facebook live stream video below. According to the person in the video, “Selena T. West”, there were threats of violence which might have contributed to the event being shut down. Threats of violence are never ok and if that is true, the peaceful dissenters and protesters should not be tied to anyone who may have done that.

Another one such event was shut down due to pressure in Leander, Texas, just outside of the left-leaning city of Austin Texas. Usually, it’s Christian conservatives who push back against these events but ironically, a poorly organized Church is offering to hold the event at their service which is currently taking place inside an elementary school. In the Tweet below from Twitter account “Austin Statesman,” you can see the report on the updated venue.

“UPDATE: Church to host ‘Drag Queen Story Hour’ at Leander library”

It’s hard to say if this is a real church or a ploy to have a venue for the story hour in the name of a religion based on The Bible, a book that speaks against this exact type of non-traditional sexual behavior. The video below gives details about the event being held at this church called “Open Cathedral“.

The organized push for non-traditional values sweeping the nation is unlike anything we used to see in America 10 to 20 years ago and is seemingly fundamentally changing the scenery for what parents can expect children to be exposed to going forward.

This man, on his Twitter account J Owen Shroyer, posted a video where he interviews random people on the street to get their opinions on “Drag Queen Story Hour” in Leander and how they feel about the effect it may have on kids. He claims in his video that in some cases there were sex offenders involved in these events, highlighting that there is possibly no vetting being done with these controversial events. He Tweets: “Drag Queen Story Hour Coming to Leander Library! See How Texans Respond:”

This movement clearly isn’t happening without resistance, some people peacefully but strongly doing their best to voice opposition while others are taking it too far with things such as threatening phone calls. This will be part of what’s seen by many as a culture war that is accelerating and is something any parent will want to keep a very close eye on, wherever you reside and whatever you believe in. In the Tweet below a Soros funded group call “Right Wing Watch” is appearing to implicate one man as being a radical fundamentalist for his views on the topic.

The Pastor, Tony Perkins appears only to be citing his personal religious views and opinions and a piece like the one linked below could be construed as an intimidation tactic to subdue people from asserting their first amendment rights.

The Tweet reads:“Tony Perkins calls on men to “display some righteous indignation and turn over a few tables in our culture” in outrage over things like Drag Queen Story Hour.”
