Freitas Puts Virginia House of Delegates Majority in Jeopardy Due to Incompetence

Delegate Nick Freitas, from Virginia’s 30th district, a “liberty” Republican from Culpeper, Virginia and failed U.S. Senate candidate has apparently just handed over his solid red Virginia House of Delegate’s seat – to a Democrat. How did this happen? A simple paperwork error. This was the same type of incompetence seen when another “liberty” candidate, now Congressman Denver Riggleman, failed to get on the ballot for the race for Governor in 2017.

Yes, it appears as though the apparent open borders “liberty-minded” Delegate Freitas, President of the Liberty Rising PAC, has failed to get on the ballot due to an error and Democrat Ann Ridgeway’s chances of taking this traditionally Republican-held seat just got a lot better. Due to this, he has told officials he is removing his bid to get on the ballot for re-election.

There are rumors that Freitas will try to take a stab at running for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District seat instead, although no evidence of that has come to light as of yet. One thing is for sure, this error could quite literally be the undoing of the Republican Party of Virginia’s 1 seat majority in the House of Delegates. A bad day for the “liberty wing” of the party and an especially bad day for the party itself.

It’s unclear if he will attempt a write-in campaign or if Delegate Freitas has given up entirely.

Hopefully, if it’s lost, a more conservative Republican can take the seat back at some point as the party needs strong leaders who fully support stopping illegal immigration, which has been on the forefront of President Trump’s agenda. At a U.S. Senate debate with E.W. Jackson and Corey Stewart also in attendance, Freitas argued that while he’s for “border security”, he believes the federal government should take a hands-off approach when it comes to local officials disregarding federal immigration law. Not exactly a very anti-illegal immigration stance.
