This week, Mary Jones, candidate for the Republican nomination to Congress in Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, launched a radio-based campaign ad which has quickly gone viral, linking her opponent, Congressman Scott Taylor, to what she refers to as a ‘Soros funded’ event last fall. Despite a fast rebuke from the Taylor team, questions have been raised among constituents, and the voters have begun investigating the origins of the 2017 Global Citizen Festival.
In September 2017 in New York City’s Central Park, Congressman Scott Taylor took to the stage of the Global Citizens Festival, a week-long event headlined by politicians, corporate figureheads, and celebrities, to speak to his fellow ‘global citizens’ on the need for a constant influx of American taxpayer dollars abroad.
‘Now is not the time to cut foreign aid,’ Taylor told the crowd.
Taylor’s calls for a continuation of massive American foreign aid programs echoed those of many others involved with Global Citizen, a worldwide ‘movement of engaged citizens’ which claims it will solve extreme poverty by the year 2030.
Although ending poverty was said to be the focus of the festival, a variety of left-wing causes went on full display, as it quickly turned into a massive anti-Trump rally. The band Green Day, who has spent decades denigrating the United States, performed ‘American Idiot,’ but changed the lyrics to reflect the current state of American politics. ‘I’m not a part of a redneck agenda…I’m not a part of a dumb Trump America’ they sang. Stevie Wonder joined Green Day in their lambasting of the United States, as he joined countless other celebrities in ‘taking a knee’ during his performance, throwing a bone to the Black Lives Matter inspired phenomenon started by former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Climate alarmism theories also made a large impact on the event, including calls for America to remain tied to the Paris Climate Agreement, signed by President Obama in 2016. Under the agreement, a number of developed Western nations led by America would limit carbon emissions, crippling large swaths of the industrial sector, while giving developing nations a free pass.
Founded through massive United Nations grants in 2008, and originally named the Global Poverty Project, Global Citizen has taken on a number of left-wing causes, which may explain the change in name. The term ‘global citizen,’ has been used intermittently by a laundry list of groups advocating for the political left and its latest incarnation appears to be the same song and dance. On their website, Global Citizen closely mirrors the obvious agenda of their September festival, pledging support to the left on causes of open borders, ‘social justice,’ and climate change amongst others.
To properly explain the wide range of causes promoted by Global Citizen, one must follow the money. Fortunately, you don’t have to look very far to see where it is coming from, as Global Citizen openly lists their sponsors on their website.
A variety of organizations listed as Global Citizen donors have in fact received hundreds of millions of dollars combined from George Soros and his Open Society Foundations group. UNICEF and the United Nations Foundation, two of Global Citizen’s better known financial backers have both taken money from Soros, with UNICEF receiving a donation of $5 million.
Prominent Global Citizen backer Human Rights Watch received a $100 million donation from Soros in 2010. Human Rights Watch has long been heavily criticized from both the right and the left for a long-standing ‘anti-Israeli bias,’ and less than a month before the Global Citizen Festival, the group’s director tweeted an article which compared support for the State of Israel to white supremacy.
Another major funder, OxFam, who has spent years attacking capitalism while peddling debunked climate change theories, has received over $1.2 million in donations from George Soros since 2016, a sum close to that of Transparency International, another Global Citizen donor which made headlines in 2013 after refusing to support Edward Snowden’s revelations of NSA spying operations focused on American citizens.
ONE, the once popular charity that was revealed to only use 1.2% of their funds for charitable causes, is another Soros backed sponsor of Global Citizen, having recently received $500,000 from the Open Society Foundations. Bono, ONE’s founder, once described Soros as ‘one of my great heroes,’ and the two have worked very closely throughout the years, with Morton H. Halperin, a Senior Advisor to Soros, even serving on ONE’s Board of Directors.
In addition to previously listed Soros funded backers, Global Citizen is sponsored by organizations such as Equality Now, which has received over $500,000 from Soros, and The Global Partnership for Education, who while not disclosing exact figures, credits Soros’ Open Society Foundation with supporting their functions. Global Citizen sponsors Girls Not Brides, International Rescue Committee, IRIN, and Stiftung have all received donations in excess of $100,000 from Soros since 2016, while the International Legal Foundation and The Global Fund have received $25,000 and $550,000 respectively since 2016.
Global Citizen’s funding takes an even more interesting turn when backers such as Avaaz and Save the Children are more closely examined. Both Avaaz, which was founded in part by the notorious, longtime Soros backed group MoveOn.org, and Save the Children, which has a long track record of receiving Soros cash, are involved in migrant transport operations in the Mediterranean, with Save the Children going as far as to physically operate ships meant to transport so-called ‘refugees’ to European Union nations. As we have seen in recent years, many of the beneficiaries of the refugee stream into Europe are not refugees at all, but political and economic migrants, some of whom have taken up arms against the West, and committed mass acts of Islamic terror.
Though Global Citizen denies ties to George Soros, through information published on their own website, as well as those of their sponsors, and George Soros himself, a deep financial and ideological connection has been revealed. Promotion of open borders and debunked pseudoscience, close ties to the United Nations and Soros funded groups since Global Citizen’s founding, and even the organization’s name lay out their radical left-wing agenda for all to see. At a time when America is under assault, and worldwide power structures seek to destroy the very fabric of our nation, Global Citizen has one thing in mind when it comes to rubbing elbows with members of our government, and that is to keep the gravy train of American foreign aid flowing in an effort to benefit globalist causes. Through their radical agenda and America last ideology, Global Citizen has truly shown us the depths to which George Soros has stuffed the pockets of those who fund their operation.
