McConnell Backs Trump, Calls Impeachment Attempt Laughable

Even for moderate Mitch, who has in the past been soft on support for President Trump and Trump-like candidates, has been shoring up his support for The Donald lately. This is very good for President Trump, as he needs all the support he can get, what with a new whistleblower report released this morning claiming that multiple White House officials were ‘alarmed’ over his Ukrainian President-phone call. The same report the Democrats are clamoring over impeaching President Trump over after the Mueller report failed them.

While this read from Newsweek is trying to compare Mitch McConnell to ‘old’ Mitch when President Clinton was being impeached and Mitch McConnell was on board, it reeks of hypocrisy coming from a left-leaning outlet. Newsweek reads, after comparing Mitch supporting President Trump now to his support of impeaching Bill Clinton previously:

Now, 20 years later, with a Republican leader in office, McConnell could be asked to make a similar choice on whether or not he believes a sitting president should be impeached.

Trump has insisted that he has “done nothing wrong,” when it comes to his call with Zelensky.

The defense that he has “done nothing wrong,” however, is one that the U.S. leader has repeatedly been forced to make throughout his short time in office, with the president facing calls to resign or be impeached over a series of scandals, including special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

These are the same leftists who don’t care that many prominent Democrats who are still in office today used to actually care about closing the border, for example, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, who has done a complete 180 on the topic, in addition to failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. But we won’t go there. We can let Chuck Schumer’s tweet do the honors.

It seems as though the left sees Mitch McConnell as someone who they can potentially bully into not supporting the Trump agenda. I’m thinking the more they push Mitch though, the more he get’s ‘Kavanaugh’ed’ like U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham did after he blew a lid when he saw how poorly they treated Brett Kavanaugh. The left wanted nothing more than to stop President Trump’s conservative pick for the Supreme Court they proved they will stop at almost nothing, including ruining a good man in the process if they have to.

The more the rabid left pushes against even moderate Republicans it seems they are left with only two options, cave to pressure from the radicals on the left, (not many left aren’t anymore) or move further right towards helping President Trump and his America First agenda in the face of all the hypocrisy. Perhaps the left needs a new strategy? The 2020 presidential campaign will tell all in the end.
