The Babylon Bee has two things the left’s self-appointed guardians of the internet hate: A good sense of humor, and a Christian, conservative fan base. Those, coupled with a recent satire piece poking fun at Georgia Democrat Erica Thomas and the widely publicized hate hoax she manufactured while shopping at Publix, have proven to be too much for the ‘fact-checkers’ at Snopes, who have renewed their efforts to de-platform The Bee.
‘We’re not sure if fanning the flames of controversy and muddying the details of a news story classify an article as “satire”’, Snopes’ ‘fact-checker’ Dan Evon said with that famous level of arrogance unique to the pseudo-intellectual left. He went on to tag the article as ‘false’, a designation that can lead to demonetization and de-platforming from social media sites that actually take Snopes seriously. Interestingly enough, Evon failed to mention that it was Democrat Thomas who made the whole thing up in the first place, leaving us all to wonder when Thomas will receive a ‘false’ designation of her own.
‘This latest smear from Snopes is both dishonest and disconcerting’, Babylon Bee staff said in a letter to readers. ‘By lumping us in with fake news and questioning whether we really qualify as satire, Snopes appears to be actively engaged in an effort to discredit and de-platform us…While we wish it wasn’t necessary, we have retained a law firm to represent us in this matter.’
Babylon Bee founder Adam Ford, took Snopes to task on his Twitter page, posting an 18 tweet thread calling out the self-proclaimed ‘fact-checkers’. ‘Just in the sub title of this “objective fact check” they’ve veered towards pronouncing a moral judgement, assigning motives, and presuming to dictate — to one of the most popular satire sites on the planet– what is and isn’t satire’, Ford wrote during the tweetstorm. ‘I suggest you fix this article, and I suggest you fix your operation. /end’. Even The Babylon Bee’s Twitter account got in on the ridicule, re-posting a classic satire piece titled ‘Snopes launches new website to fact-check Snopes fact checks’.

While Snopes’ renewed attacks on The Babylon Bee are far from surprising, they are definitely troubling. Big tech’s assault on free speech has been predicated by Democrat-led conspiracies surrounding conservative webpages. Pages that ‘fact-checkers’ like Snopes openly view as their enemies, and have no problem attempting to silence.
