The FBI served a search warrant at a Beverly Hills mansion on Tuesday morning in connection with the Eric Swalwell investigation, according to reports from ABC7 Los Angeles. The FBI confirmed the search but said the court documents are sealed, and an FBI spokesperson told POLITICO no arrests are planned.

What happened in Beverly Hills

ABC7 reported that the law enforcement activity unfolded on Roxbury Drive near Benedict Canyon Drive at around 7 a.m. Tuesday. The station said it learned the search is related to an investigation into Swalwell, a former congressman, but that additional details about what the search involves were not available.

ABC7 also reported that the home where the warrant was served belongs to billionaire and former California gubernatorial candidate Stephen Cloobeck. Neither ABC7 nor NBC Los Angeles has reported what investigators were seeking at the property. The documents tied to the warrant remain sealed.

“Early this morning the FBI conducted an operation in the Los Angeles region related to an ongoing criminal investigation. We have no further comment.”

Swalwell denies the allegations

Earlier this year, Swalwell ended his campaign for California governor and resigned from Congress after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct, ABC7 reported. Swalwell has denied the allegations.

NBC Los Angeles reported in April that at least four women had accused Swalwell of sexual misconduct. The allegations were first publicized in a San Francisco Chronicle report, according to NBC, and later reported by CNN. NBC News said it had not independently corroborated the accounts. Although he denied the allegations, NBC reported, Swalwell said the fight to clear his name was his own and not his campaign’s.

Cloobeck’s earlier ties to Swalwell

Cloobeck, who also ran for governor, told NBC Los Angeles on April 12 that he was ending his support for Swalwell. NBC reported that Cloobeck endorsed Swalwell after leaving the governor’s race in November 2025 and donated to his campaign. Cloobeck said Swalwell had stayed at his Los Angeles-area home after the allegations surfaced and had since left.

The Associated Press, citing two people familiar with the investigation, reported that agents searched the home of Cloobeck, where Swalwell spent time before resigning from Congress in April. The FBI has not said what agents were seeking. NBC Los Angeles reported it was not immediately clear whether the warrant was tied to the Swalwell case or to a separate pending Los Angeles County case involving Cloobeck.
