VIDEO: Bernie Sanders’ Resurfaced Quotes Validate Trump Baltimore Tweets

Earlier today, the Trump 2020 campaign tweeted out a ‘damning’ video taken of Bernie Sanders, where he referred to Baltimore in a similar manner as President Trump. This is quite interesting after the recent criticisms put forth by Democrat Rep Elijah Cummings. Flanked by a group of minorities who were identified as community leaders in a Baltimore Sun article, Sanders said the following:

Anyone who took the walk that we took around this neighborhood, would not think that you are in a wealthy nation, you would think that you are in a third world country, but today what we are talking about a community in which half the people do not have jobs.  We are talking about a community in which there are hundreds of buildings that are uninhabitable.  We are talking about a community where kids are unable to go to schools that are decent.

Business Insider has already released an article where they tried to downplay the similarities by painting Sanders as someone who is more sympathetic to the plight of the citizens there. They claim the difference is that Sanders toured the area so that makes it better somehow. According to the Baltimore Sun article, he was actually only there for 20 minutes.

Washington Post politics reporter Dave Weigel also added his viewpoint by tweeting out a sarcastic post.

Sanders has yet to directly respond to President Trump on Twitter or elsewhere, but did earlier tweet about the need to raise the minimum wage to $15 in a tweet where he insulted the states who have not yet done so. It will be interesting to see if he questions the President’s toughness again.
