A little over a month ago we reported on a vote of no confidence issued against Denver Riggleman from the Cumberland County Republican Committee after a failed attempt at censuring Virginia’s 5th Congressional District U.S. Representative Riggleman by some activists in the District Committee.
Yesterday, the Bedford County Republican Committee put forth their own resolution to censure Rep. Riggleman, as can be seen in a letter found in a Facebook post in a local group.

Recently, Liberty University’s Jerry Falwell Jr. has stepped into the mess to put his two cents out there on the whole situation about Denver Riggleman, the dissent he has drawn from many constituents and his thoughts on the officiating of a gay wedding by Riggleman. Normally a very staunch social conservative, Falwell Jr. wrote a letter to Rep. Riggleman that was clearly for everyone to see in which he defends him for his actions and throws support behind him. ‘Christian News’ offers more detail on this story here. Virginia’s 5th congressional district is clearly split, and many activists support Riggleman’s progressive approach. This may be related to what appears to be some in the district who are identifying as Republicans against Trump. Although Riggleman himself is lukewarm on President Trump, it begs the question of whether or not he is pandering to the anti-Trump Republicans in the District. A photo from an activist in the region provided to Politics Elections shows a post in a local 5th District GOP group where an apparent activist is promoting a group of ‘Republicans Opposed to Trump’.

Activist Isaiah Knight, who claims on his public figure page to be the Executive Board Member of the Young Republican Federation of Virginia and the Chairman of the Lynchburg Area Young Republicans posted recently calling for the 5th District GOP chairman to resign based on his statements recently on Denver Riggleman. The post was then subsequently ‘liked’ by who appears to be Congressman Riggleman’s wife, as can be seen below in the image after the Facebook post itself.

A well-known talk show host, John Fredericks, chimed in on the situation with the Bedford County Republican Committee, lambasting them for their efforts, calling it ‘unbelievable’.

Fredericks is not exactly what you would call a solid conservative although he plays the part of a Republican. In an expose published by Big League Politics last February, the website highlighted Frederick’s past support for scandal embroiled Virginia Governor Ralph Northam (D) in a primary. Big League Politics, the same organization that first reported on the Ralph Northam blackface scandal, has this to say about Fredericks:
A Virginia radio host who served as the state’s Chairman for the Donald J. Trump presidential campaign in 2016 voted for racist Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam, and recently bucked the same populist movement that elected Trump.
“I voted for State Senator Ralph Northam for Democratic Lieutenant Governor nominee,” John Fredericks said in 2013.
“Northam has a solid reputation for being approachable and open to dissenting dialogue. And he is not shy about working with legislators on both sides of the aisle to do what he believes is the right thing,” he continued. “Bottom-line: you can have a meaningful conversation with him, regardless of your political differences.”
Fredericks was obviously dead wrong about Northam. Both sides of the political aisle are trying to have a “meaningful conversation” about Northam’s resignation after Big League Politics outed him as a blackface or KKK hood-wearing racist. Northam has refused to answer to anyone.
After endorsements from prominent Republicans like Fredericks in his bid for Lieutenant Governor, Northam moved up the ranks quickly, winning the state’s governorship in 2017.
Fredericks’ transgressions do not end with his vote for Northam, though.
In December, he was quoted in The Washington Post bashing Republican U.S. Senate nominee Corey Stewart, Virginia’s torch-bearer of the same populist movement that propelled Trump to the presidency.
“This party has to have a public exorcism of Corey Stewart — complete with holy water and green vomit,” he told the paper.
Fredericks provided no explanation for his shapeshifting, but presumably he bought into the fake press narrative that Stewart is a “racist.” This, after he voted for an actual racist. The Republican Party of Virginia – which missed some great opposition research against Northam and Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax who stands accused of two rapes– was grieving after it rolled over to leftists in the mainstream press and only tepidly backed Stewart in his 2018 run against Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.). Ironically, the party feared being labeled as “racists” while governor of the state received a pass for actual racism, and his lieutenant received a pass for alleged sexual assault.
