With Special Prosecution Imminent, Jussie Smollett Threatens to Sue Chicago

After what could be referred to as the ‘Maga Country Hate Hoax‘ or similar, the infamous Jussie Smollett is back in the news again. While facing a special counsel investigation that is threatening to re-open the investigation of his alleged false hate crime set-up, he and Chicago DA Kim Foxx are in some potential hot water.

In addition to this Smollett is facing a lawsuit from the city of Chicago for upwards of almost $500,000 to compensate them for their financial losses. This comes after a very extensive and expensive investigation into his original report that he was assaulted by two white people claiming that he was in ‘MAGA Country’. The evidence uncovered showed that his allegations were very likely false.

Well, Smollett has had ENOUGH! He is now thinking about suing the city of Chicago in return.

From TMZ:

The former “Empire” actor says he’s seriously thinking about filing a lawsuit against Chi-Town, “for their conduct underlying the arrest and their conduct thereafter.” Translation — he thinks he’s the victim of a malicious prosecution.

This is going to likely be a flop for Jussie, as was the attempt by his legal counsel to block an imminent special counsel investigation, but he is not giving up easily. He will apparently stick to his story and continue to play the victim as long as he can, despite all the evidence and loss of support in the court of public opinion.

In addition to most people’s opinion on this case, there have been some outliers. While a few people have stayed strong with their support for Jussie, others have gone even further than accusing him of a fake hate crime. Example: Ann Coulter says “all hate crimes are hoaxes”. This is probably in reference to the idea that “crime is crime” and hate crimes are often used for political gain rather than actually stopping other crimes from happening. Many on both sides are likely to disagree with her assessment.

Smollet has been mostly quiet on Twitter, as his legal team is probably instructing him to do, as his last public tweet from his official handle shows as being from January 28th.
