Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) endorsed Republican Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate in Michigan on Sunday, two days before Tuesday’s election, in a video posted to her campaign’s X account.
“Hey Michigan. As you may have seen, our Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, Abdul, said that I was no longer welcome in his campaign and that I should stay away. And he’s right,” Stevens said, speaking into a phone camera from a parked car. “And that’s why I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today.”

“I don’t belong in Abdul’s campaign,” she added, according to NBC News, which reported the endorsement Sunday. “Mike welcomes her,” Rogers spokesperson Abby Ronson told NBC. Her chief of staff, Justin German, said “many members of our team have resigned, including myself.”

After the church appearance
The video followed Stevens’ appearance with Rogers at Sunday services at Perfecting Church in Detroit. She had been set to attend a get-out-the-vote event with El-Sayed at another Detroit church that day. That plan collapsed after a dispute over an outside group’s ad, and Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI), who helped organize the event, said she asked Stevens not to attend, the AP reported.
Stevens lost the August Democratic primary to Abdul El-Sayed and later endorsed him. Earlier this week, she told CNN she would still vote for him, Bridge Michigan reported.
The race

Rogers, a former congressman, faces El-Sayed on Tuesday for the open seat of retiring Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI).
