Susie Wiles is out as White House chief of staff. President Donald Trump announced Friday, November 6, that Stephen Miller will replace her and that Wiles is “moving over to the Trump Political Operation,” according to his Truth Social post. Wiles wrote on X that Friday was her last day and called the job “the honor of a lifetime.”

Two accounts published Friday say Trump shouted at Wiles in the Oval Office before her exit: a Daily Mail report citing four anonymous sources, and on-air remarks by Real America’s Voice correspondent Neil McCabe. A White House official denied it to the Daily Mail: “He would never yell at Susie.” Neither account names a firsthand witness, and Politics Elections has not independently confirmed what happened in the room.

What is confirmed

Trump’s announcement names Miller, previously deputy chief of staff, as the new chief of staff. CBS News reported that Trump told reporters Friday he “wanted to make a change,” adding, “sometimes in life, you have to make moves.” CBS also reported that Wiles submitted her resignation Thursday and tied that move to the GOP’s midterm losses.

The Associated Press, citing a person familiar with events, reported that Wiles gave Trump her resignation Thursday night. CNN reported that Trump had been angry with her after Tuesday’s results, as summarized by Mediaite.

What the Daily Mail reported

The most detailed account comes from the Daily Mail, citing four sources familiar with the argument. According to its report, Trump berated Wiles over the midterm results Thursday afternoon during a meeting with other aides. One White House source told the outlet Trump yelled at her until she left the room. Two other sources said he threw her out of the meeting.

The outlet also reported that Morgan Dewitt-Snow, a close Wiles ally who runs the White House personnel office, was present and emerged “visibly rattled,” according to a source.

What Neil McCabe said

Real America’s Voice congressional correspondent Neil McCabe gave a similar account in a clip posted Friday by Bannon’s War Room and later circulated by AFpost. The clip shows McCabe speaking on camera—not the meeting itself—and he does not name a source.

McCabe said the president became frustrated and began shouting, then “in essence shouted” Wiles out of the Oval Office. In a clip posted Friday by War Room, he placed the incident “last night”—Thursday, according to the show’s caption, which says Miller was “chosen today”—and said Wiles was followed by “Morgan DeWitt,” whom he described as her ally in charge of personnel.

“It’s my understanding that the resignation came last night,” McCabe added.

What remains unclear

The Daily Mail places the confrontation Thursday afternoon; read with War Room’s caption, McCabe’s “last night” also points to Thursday.

Both accounts describe shouting; the White House official denies it. No source cited here establishes that the reported confrontation caused Wiles’s resignation.

This follows Politics Elections’ coverage of calls for Trump to fire Wiles after the midterm losses. Our analysis of Miller as a political wartime chief of staff examines what her successor inherits. Our article on Calley Means’s claims about Wiles on Joe Rogan’s podcast covers his allegations about her influence.

Politics Elections found no on-record response from Wiles about the reported confrontation in the sources checked for this draft. The meeting accounts remain unconfirmed, and the White House has denied them.
