Florida State House Rep Reintroduces Campus Carry Bill to Keep Students Safe

Florida State Rep Anthony Sabatini has proposed a Campus Carry bill in the state to allow gun owners with a concealed weapons permit to carry on campus.  Currently, Florida expressly prohibits the carrying of firearms on college campuses.

He made the announcement on Facebook originally and then followed up with a recent tweet.

Sabatini tweeted:

The arbitrary restriction against CWP holders carrying on college campuses is likely the most irrational law in the Florida Statutes. I challenge anyone to find a specific and valid factual argument to support it—none exists.

He had filed the legislation previously but had been unsuccessful. At that time he said, “I find it offensive that because of political rhetoric, I’m not allowed to defend myself just because I’m on a college campus.” Non-profit Florida Carry has been fighting to get a bill like this passed since 2011.
